As a national platform, the Forum for Sustainable Development (Forum Nachhaltige Entwicklung) makes a significant contribution to the implementation of sustainable development policy in Switzerland.
The Forum for Sustainable Development (Forum Nachhaltige Entwicklung) was established in 2001 and aims to promote the exchange of information between different sectors and the coordination of common implementation projects. Representatives of the federal authorities, cantons, cities, communes and regions participate actively in the forum twice annually.
The last Forum for Sustainable Development took place in the context of the “Lucerne World Mountain Forum” and on the occasion of the Swiss presidency of the Alpine Convention; it was attended by Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard and took place in the Culture and Convention Centre Lucerne (KKL Lucerne). It was dedicated to the topic of “City-Country-Mountain: Rivals or Alliance for Sustainable Development?”.
