Sixty-three environmental laureates from 37 different countries gathered on the second weekend in March at the European Environment Foundation Convention in Freiburg im Breisgau. Together they drew up the “Freiburg Call for Action”, a declaration which calls on the Rio+20 Conference in June 2012 to shape a more sustainable and just future. In the run up to Rio+20, the environmental laureates call on governments, businesses and civil society to increase their efforts in achieving global sustainable development goals.
