Switzerland took an active role in the process surrounding the United Nations sustainability conference, which took place from 20-22 June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) under the heading Rio+20. In preparation for the conference, the Swiss Confederation launched a participatory process involving the cantons and communes, environmental organisations, cooperation and development agencies, youth organisations, political parties, business associations and scientists. This website is a shared platform for civil society and the federal government on topics and events surrounding Rio+20.
